How a CUBE birthday runs
A birthday party at Cube Challenges in Mississauga is a private event in two parts. First, an hour of play: the guests split into teams of two to six, every player gets an RFID wristband, and the teams take on thirty challenge rooms in any order, each team sharing one score on a live leaderboard. Then your own party area, with a host to run it, for the food, the cake and the results.
Every room has three difficulty levels chosen at the door, and a missed room can be replayed by scanning back in, so a party of mixed ages plays the same floor on fair terms. Earlier opening times can be arranged for group bookings.
Kids' parties, 7 to 12
Players must be 7 or older, and under-13s play on a team with an adult, so for this age the parents and older siblings are on the teams rather than watching. Start rooms at level one. The ones this age goes back to: Hangry Monkey, a jump pad in front of a screen; Lava Land, staying off the lava; Buzzer Beater, as many baskets as you can before the buzzer; Candit, building the desserts on the screen; Color Twist, hands and feet on the coloured floor.
Teen parties
Thirteen and over can play without an adult on the team, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Teenagers play for the leaderboard: a party of twelve is two or three teams racing each other, and the fastest way up the board is replaying a room at a harder level. Friday and Saturday sessions run until midnight, so an evening party works as well as an afternoon one.
Adult birthdays
The same format, at level three. A group of friends splits into teams, competes on the leaderboard for the hour, and then has the party area to itself. Bring your own food and cake, or ask about catering when you request a quote. There is no bar on site, so the drinks are the stop before or after.
Food and cake
Bring your own food and your own cake, and the party table is yours. A catering option also exists, quoted per event: ask when you request a quote. There is no food service during a regular session, which is one reason a birthday is booked as a private event.
Planning ahead
- Book early. Weekend slots go first; book as far ahead as you can to secure the date.
- Send the waiver home with the invitations. Every guest under 18 needs one signed by a parent or guardian, and arrival is much quicker when they are done.
- Tell guests what to wear. Comfortable clothes and running shoes; the Physical rooms involve climbing, balancing and moving quickly.
- Watch the briefing video with the birthday child beforehand. It covers the rules and the safety guidelines.
